Challenge

When Princeton, NJ-based Wong Fleming first started out, their IT needs were fairly simple. But as the law firm grew, so did their requirements.

They contracted with a number of small outside vendors for support, but many would go out of business, deliver poor support or find their capabilities inadequate for the firm’s growing needs. Even worse, worrying about the technology took valuable time away from practicing law.

Solution

Since we provided Wong Fleming with multifunction products (MFPs), we were also aware of their IT issues and plans to move into a larger office space. Our sales rep connected them with Ricoh IT Services to see how we could help.

During our initial assessment we found a number of issues, such as:

  • Outdated PCs

  • Multiple PCs at workstations

  • An insufficiently ventilated closet that acted as a server room

  • Many short-term network fixes

We then collaborated with their in-house IT coordinator to implement a two-phase plan. The first phase addressed their immediate needs and called for:

Results

  • Gradual replacement of older devices before the firm’s move.

  • Signing a proactive contract to receive 24/7 remote server support from our Communications, Operations, and Remote Engineering (CORE) center.

  • Adding 10 to 20 hours of additional onsite support for issues that couldn’t be resolved remotely.

With our help, Wong Fleming is better prepared to handle their IT needs today and in the future. To reduce the amount of downtime during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, their Ricoh point person went above and beyond and personally drove the firm’s server to Wong Fleming’s Philadelphia office and helped move all computers within 24 hours.  But, the most visible sign of our impact is that they’re spending less time worrying about IT issues and spending more on their practice and clients.
