The
US EPA Energy Star Program: Conserving Natural and Business Resources
The Energy Star program is a unique and important model for public/private
sector corporations because it accomplishes important additional
goals via market-driven means, not government mandate. It’s
a voluntary non-regulatory program that creates partnerships between
the EPA and industry. It works very simply: promote the significant
economic advantages of energy-efficient products and then identify
those products to consumers. In addition to helping protect the
environment, it frees billions of dollars of needless energy spending
to go back into the economy, instead of up in smoke. As a result,
customers today are looking for energy-efficient office equipment
and increasingly; they are coming to appreciate the impact that
energy savings can have on their bottom line.
