POSITION: DIGITAL PRINT OPERATOR (1 Year Contract)
REPORTS TO: Mark Phillips, Manager, Client Services & ISO Quality Systems
LOCATION: RDM – Aurora: 205 Industrial Parkway North
DATE: May 3, 2010

BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for the coordination of all orders through the print production order cycle, meeting deadlines and ensuring customer satisfaction.

  • Hours of work: Monday to Friday 2:45PM - 11:15PM
  • Location: Industrial Parkway N., Aurora, ON
  • Special Considerations: This position is a 1 year contract opportunity with the possibility of contract renewal or full time hire.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Docket is checked for completeness and accuracy
  • Availability of stock and supplies is assessed and ordered through proper channels
  • Verify if files are complete (i.e. missing fonts, images)
  • Compare output with customer supplied lasers or originals
  • Proof to Customer Service / Account Representative

Once final sign off is obtained, job is submitted and assigned by daily production schedule; as a digital print operator you will produce a final production proof before running job to ensure image quality. Throughout the run, random quality checks are performed by Operator; in addition, quantities, initials and notes are recorded for each job on the daily production report. Any special instructions are communicated to the next department in writing and in person when job delivered.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have 2-3 years of digital production experience. 
  • Understanding of basic pre-press functions (artwork preparation, impositions), color management, bindery and finishing processes is a must.
  • Must be extremely detail oriented, accurate and efficient in a fast-pace environment.
